A supercut of sound from Paul Thomas Anderson films

Coke-snorting, straw-sucking, oil- guzzling, frog-raining.

The works of Paul Thomas Anderson (he of Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood and Magnolia fame) are regularly awash with crisp, immersive and unique sound effects, which, whether you know it or not, provide just as much excitement as the dialogue itself.

And now Anderson's masterful use of sound has been encapsulated by Jacob T Swinney: the man behind a recent series of homages to Tarantino. His new sound-filled supercut shows us just how well layered with sound PTA’s work really is, giving art-house cinema a smash, bang and a wallop in the process.

It also helps, we suppose, that many of Anderson’s lead characters are highly dysfunctional grown men with uncontrollable rage issues...

...who are quite fond of milkshake too.
