A Danger Mouse Movie Is On The Way

Shadowy forces are lurking. British intelligence is under threat. Only one suave spy can prevent catastrophe.

No, we’re not talking about Spectre, which hits screens later this month. We’re talking of that other fictional British spy – and, in case you’d forgotten, danger isn’t his middle name, it’s his first.

Having recently announced a return to the small screen for CBBC, Danger Mouse is heading to the big screen, with Sony Pictures Animation and Studio Canal currently in cahoots to give the character the blockbuster effects he fully deserves.

Originally running from 1981 to 1992, devised by Mark Hall and Brian Cosgrove (who is reportedly working on the new version), the series saw the titular spy (voiced by David Jason) and his bespectacled assistant Penfold fighting against a cabal of baddies led by the slimy Baron Silas Greenback. Pretty much every episode, so at least we have a decent idea what the plot will entail.

And though the producers of the upcoming film are still on the lookout for a writer to draft a screenplay for said action, we can’t see any reason why it won’t be a resounding success. Even if the cinemas are bursting with men aged 25-35.

It’s far too good for kids anyway.
