Win a place on one of our exclusive cookery classes this January
08 January 2018

Let’s be honest. Poor January often gets a pretty bad rap. Sure, December is a rather hard act to follow after all the merriment, but look ahead and January can be full of potential, too. Particularly if you use it to start filling up the calendar. After all, nothing feels more satisfying than having mini-breaks and evenings out to look forward to. And with that in mind, ShortList – in partnership with American Express® and British Airways – is hosting a series of travel-themed events on 27 January. From a screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel, to a travel photography masterclass and a trio of continental cookery classes, it’s just what you need for some destination inspiration. Still need to get on board with the January love? With the British Airways American Express® Credit Card your next getaway could come sooner than you think? By making everyday purchases using your Card – your travel, morning coffee and all those other incidental costs – you will collect Avios which can help save you money on your next flight, taking you one step nearer the departure lounge*.

Win a place on a cookery class

The British Airways American Express® Credit Card has joined forces with ShortList and L’atelier des Chefs to offer readers the chance to win one of three pairs of tickets to an exclusive cookery class. So even if you can’t transport yourself just yet, you can give your taste buds a flavour of holidays to come.

Taking place on the 27 January at L’atelier des Chefs in Marylebone, three winners will each win a pair of tickets to one of these two-hour classes, where they will learn how to make a French tarte tatin, Spanish paella or fresh Italian pasta. Each winner will be welcomed with a drink – and, of course, be able to eat whatever you cook. To be in with a chance of winning, all you need to do is answer the following question before the closing date of 22 January 2018.

If there’s one film director whose work is guaranteed to evoke a little escapism, it’s Wes Anderson. Whether it’s the streets of Harlem or the railways of India, Anderson’s signature offbeat style is perfect for transporting you somewhere a little more exotic. Which is why, on 27 January, ShortList – in partnership with American Express and British Airways– is hosting an exclusive screening at London’s Ham Yard Hotel of his most recent film, the Oscar-winning The Grand Budapest Hotel. Set in a ski resort in the fictional European nation of Zubrowka, the film follows the meticulous concierge Gustave H (played by Ralph Fiennes) and his new bell boy, Zero, as they struggle to prove Gustave’s innocence following his arrest for the murder of one of the hotel’s most regular guests. Quirky, kitsch and visually ravishing, The Grand Budapest Hotel is an instant rose-tinted ticket to pre-war eastern Europe. All you need to do is sit back with your complimentary popcorn (and your ShortList goodie bag) and enjoy being transported to Wes’s world.
