Latest Uber update makes it much easier to see your rating in-app
26 April 2017

Uber wants to make it easier than ever to see if the taxi driver collective thinks you’re an unpunctual, obnoxious dickhead.

In a new update that will begin to roll out globally in the next few days, the app will massively simplify the necessary process for checking your all-important rating. It has always been possible to access the cumulative 5-star system, but doing so required needlessly extensive menu navigating. Only the most devoted Uberers could be bothered with the time-sink.

Now, all you’ll need to do is tap the little menu button in the top left corner of the screen. Your rating will sit just under your name.

Be nice, or Uber won't let you forget it

“Drivers do their best to make Uber enjoyable and safe for their riders, and we expect that riders do the same for drivers,” the company said in a statement. “But many riders forget that their driver is also rating them, too, and things like eating in the car, slamming the door, or trying to pile in more people than seatbelts can impact whether it’s a 5-star experience for drivers.”

This interface tweak, Uber say, is designed to serve as constant reminder to riders that respect works both ways. If you’ve covertly smuggled a dripping kebab into the car and left half of it on the floor, the app will remind you about it next time you log in.

Also coming are adjustments to uberPOOL. From now on, rating a POOL trip less than 5 stars will allow users to select a reason for their beef. If your main issue was with the co-rider who sang the chorus to ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ straight into your ear on a merciless loop for the entire journey, then you can notify Uber without the negative feedback reflecting on the helpless driver.
