The Virtual Graveyard App

It seems like there's an app for everything these days, but we didn't really think it would ever quite come to this. Nonetheless, the world's first virtual graveyard is here.

RipCemetery has just launched on crowdfunding site Indiegogo, aiming to raise an initial $23,000 and to be available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone and the web by June this year.

It will enable users to build their own virtual tombs, tombstones and to lay virtual flowers, leave photos, videos dedications and messages to the deceased. It doesn't forget our furry friends either though, you can 'bury' your pets in this online final resting place too. Essentially, it looks like a posthumous Facebook; you can 'follow' lost loved ones and be updated on any activity that takes place on their headstone.

Prices start from $25 for 6 months' access to the app, or $499 for a lifetime.

Who knows, perhaps this sort of thing will be useful to those grieving lost family members; all we can say is they may want to devise on a pretty strong anti-trolling policy, or some people are going to get very upset.

Watch the video below for more info, or head to the Indiegogo page here.
