Quick, ask somebody what your name is. Unless ‘Jeff Bridges’ comes the reply, chances are the closest you’ll ever get to the dazzlingly exciting world of Tron will have to be from that dent in your sofa.

Although you might not think it when glancing in your rear view mirror at one of these specially designed motorcycle helmets - helmets which make it seem as if a Light Cycle is inching behind you on some pixelated racetrack between fiction and reality.

Produced by the fittingly named firm LightMode Electroluminescent, the noggin-protectors achieve their arcade friendly looks via light-up wires running out of a small control module wedged between the shell and padding.

What's more ,they're currently up for pre-order on Kickstarter, priced at £48 for a kit if you fancy designing your own (aqua, red, white, green, blue, yellow, and pink are the colours available) or going one better and buying a pre-installed helmets from £210.

The pack can be ran on AA batteries and the three different modes include constant glow, blink and off. Outside of daylight, we can’t see much point in the latter.
