Google Launching Time Square's Largest Ever Interactive Billboard

Google Launching Time Square's Largest Ever Interactive Billboard

Google Launching Time Square's Largest Ever Interactive Billboard
24 November 2014
Be it David Beckham stood around in his undercrackers, or a steaming cup of Japanese noodles, the lofty billboards around New York’s Times Square have long provided us with many memorable images.

Yet, at some point today, New Yorkers will bear witness to one of the largest and most intelligent advertisements ever launched - somewhat unsurprisingly by those bods over at Google.

Covering an entire city block and exceeding 4K resolution by 15m pixels (some serious mega wattage, basically), the giant digital ads will allow Android users to play an interactive game on the billboards sat just half a mile from Google’s New York HQ, while other passing smartphone users will be able to interact by turning their Androidify characters into postcards and t-shirts.

And as a festive show of goodwill, Google is also donating ad space to charities such as WWF, ensuring that no grown man should feel guilty about standing around playing about on his phone.

What we’d give to let some 20ft Angry Birds loose on the New York skyline.
