You can play as Harley Quinn in the new Batman game

Video games don't have enough strong female characters.

Sure there are princesses to rescue and bit-part-players to oggle, but the usual discussion of female figures in the world of gaming concerns their notable absence.

Which is why we're deeply excited by the prospect of getting to know one of the most bad-ass, unstable femme fatales of the fictional world: Harley Quinn.

Rocksteady Studios has revealed that players who pre-order their latest Dark Knight adventure, Batman: Arkham Knight, will be able to play as the Joker's favourite girl in her very own story pack.

For an insight into Harley's own world, her brutal combat style and the fact she sounds a bit like Janice from Friends, check out the trailer below.
