The new Tony Hawk's game looks a lot like an old Tony Hawk's game

HD graphics! All new life-like physics! Detailed skater models and new tricks!

You'll find none of them in the latest trailer for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5.

While that intro might sound like we're ripe with scepticism over Hawk's latest skating title, we promise we aren't killing it before it's had a chance to grind. The proposed "classic combo-driven skateboarding with objective-based single player" game might be the slice of nostalgia that gamers are craving, and the new 20-player online features may prove that flashy graphics aren't anything in the next-gen era.

But on a first look of the gameplay, even the most excitable of Skater fans (of which we include ourselves) will admit to being underwhelmed by the latest showing. If one of your major sells is allowing gamers to "Be yourself", one wonders where the replay factors kick in after creating a blocky player that sort of looks like you. On this showing, it has the appearance of a promising mobile title, rather than a skating title that's set to hog Xbox One and PlayStation 4 controllers.

We hope we're wrong. We'll find out when it arrives on the new consoles on 29 September (and on the older consoles at a later, TBC date).
