After a 17 year absence, Ripley's back - and not because of some monstrous cloning experiment.

Word comes from IGN that Sigourney Weaver, Harry Dean Stanton, Veronic Cartwright, Tom Skerritt and Yaphet Kotto will reprise their Alien roles (vocally) for a series of special missions in the forthcoming video game thriller Alien: Isolation.

Players who pre-order the game will receive two additional downloadable missions starring the original cast of Ridley Scott's 1979 classic: Crew Expendable sees players take the roll of Ripley, Dallas or Parker as they attempt to flush the xenomorph from the Nostromo's air vents (expect terrifying claustrophobic flashlight sequences), while Last Survivor focuses on the original film's closing sequences in which Ripley must activate (and then deactivate) the Nostromo's self-destruct sequence and reach her escape shuttle.

As the main storyline of Alien: Isolation is set 15 years after the events of Scott's film, these extra missions will act as a nice bridge for those younger gamers who may not be up to scratch with the original story (for shame) - and gives us the chance to run amok with a flamethrower.

Alien: Isolation will arrive on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC on 7 October
