Mordor. The one place in Middle-Earth you don't want to see any closer. Unless you're a cursed ranger with a heart full of revenge and a sword that needs swinging.

This latest trailer for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor plots the origins of Talion's strange powers: set immediately after the events of The Hobbit, Sauron's armies are creeping from the gloom of Mordor into the land of men. Talion and his family are put to the sword by a sinister Ring Wraith, but a curse banishes our hapless hero from death, tying him instead to the spirit of a Wraith.

Trapped between the world of the living and the dead, Talion wastes no time in heading to Mordor to find some answers and slit some throats. We can hardly wait. But we're going to have to, because it's not out until October. Triksy Warner Bros. Games.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor arrives on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC on 7 October
