A full version of 'The Sims' is finally coming to mobile

For some baffling reason, EA has never released a fully-fledged port of its long-running life simulation series, The Sims, for mobile platforms.

We’ve had a couple of stripped-down versions, but nothing that can rival the PC experience. It sounds like that’s about to change, though, with the imaginatively-named The Sims Mobile, which has already launched in Brazil and is expected to be rolled out around the world in the next few days.

A free-to-play game for iOS and Android, the core components are all there: create Sims, build their homes, find them jobs, friends, partners and essentially play God in whatever lives you choose for them. According to The Verge, the new mobile title is based on the The Sims 4’s “legacy challenge” mode, a set of self-imposed rules that task players with starting a family line and maintaining it across generations. That could be bad news for all you Sims sadists. No drowning Dad!

There’s no word yet on exactly when the UK version will drop, or how its payment model will be structured, but it shouldn’t be long before you can start throwing debaucherous digital house parties on the tube home, watching on with pride as they get naked and mutter unintelligible gibberish at one another until the sun comes up. That’ll be fun.
