The world's cheapest mobile phone has gone on sale - costing customers just £1.

The Alcatel One Touch 232 comes with a 1.5 inch colour screen and is able to make snd receive calls and text messages.

Website PrePayMania.co.uk are selling the Pay As You Go mobile phone on the O2 network.

The basic phone, which must be bought with £10 of credit, also features an alarm clock, calculator and calender.

According to Sophie Evans, from PrePayMania, the phone will be perfect for some people.

"Not everyone wants the latest and most trendy phone.

"A lot of people just need a plain and simple mobile that allows them to make and receive calls and send text messages.

"The phone is just £1 and you only have to buy £10 worth of credit - but that's good because people will want to use their phone straight away."

She added: "It's a fairly simple phone and does all of the basics, it's perfect for people that aren't worried about having the best phone out there."
