This is the world's first floating smartphone

It's Sunday.

Your head hurts. It's too bright. You fumble around under your pillow for your phone.

It's not there.

You stumble your way to the bathroom, cursing your lack of coordination and the beehive you allowed to move into your skull. You prop up the toilet seat.

There, staring up at you with a blank screen of neglect, is your dead phone.

It's happened to the best of us - in fact, to so many of us that a Californian tech company is making a smartphone that is not only waterproof, but also floats.

Currently amassing funds on Indiegogo, the Comet is a 'buoyant' Android smartphone - but it's not fitted with any obvious floatation devices. The 4.7" HD screen is backed by a curved body, sporting a 16 megapixel dual camera, 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of memory.

In addition to floating, there are some neat extras: Q-Lock is an advanced security encryption service, keeping your data a little more safe than the average smartphone, while a lighting system along the side of the phone can be used to indicate a variety of alerts.

You can currently snap up the Super Early Bird offer of a 32GB Comet for £163 ($249), with first orders set to arrive in April 2016.

Until then, you might want to take precautions for your current, sinkable phone. Like fixing a net over your loo. Or learning not to be an idiot.
