The Flashy Omate Smartwatch

It seems that smartwatch designers are beginning to get the message: we don't want calculators strapped to our wrists. Case in point is the latest design from Omate - the futuristic-if-cliché Omate X.

Hidden within the depths of this curved chunk of aluminium and sapphire is a speaker, microphone, motion tracker and Bluetooth array - allowing you to hook the X up to your Android or Apple phone (sorry Windows owners).

Once connected, you'll be able to recieve push notifications for incoming calls, social media updates and reminders, read emails and monitor your fitness via the full-colour 1.54-inch screen. And the battery will easily outlast the average smartphone, with an estimated 7 day charge. It also tells the time.

And did we mention it looks good? While brushed metal and leather has been 'futuristic' since the mid-nineties, we're a sucker for this moody design.

Anyone interested in bagging themselves an Omate X can place a pre-order on the Omate website for around £80 between 1 September and 30 September.
