"Jim just smashed 5.4km in 52 minutes!" Bully for Jim. But some of us don't like legging it around the park to build up social bragging points. Some of us like nothing more than a good walk - a mode of locomotion underserved by creative apps. Until now.
Breeze is hoping to be for walking what the likes of Nike+ Running or RunKeeper for runners. Made by the team of the latter running app, Breeze doesn't push you to hit faster times or 'dominate' the morning commute, but rather looks to encourage you to become that little bit more active.
By keeping a track of daily step counts and commonly walked routes, Breeze nudges users toward new step goals, slowly cranking up the distances covered each week. It's an approach crafted for those of us looking to get a bit fitter without joining a gym or squeezing ourselves into a Lycra horror show, gradually forming new walking habits that will wear down the chub by degrees.
Currently available for iPhone 5S, you can download Breeze here.
