The First Image Of LG's New Nexus Smartphone

You've got to feel some degree of sympathy for smartphone manufacturers.

Whether it's the latest Apple gadget or Samsung phablet, someone, somewhere in the world is poised to take a photo of your not-yet-ready product and share it on the web. This is what happens when you put an internet-connected camera in everyone's pocket.

The gadget in question this week: the LG Nexus 5 - a sleek smartphone that sees the South Korean manufacturer partner with Google for a new flagship model.

Circulated by the Google Nexus Community Indonesia, there are two striking features from the above image: a protruding camera - an apparent norm amongst most large handsets - and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Rumours currently populating the Nexus-obsessed corners of the web suggest there'll be two versions of Google's Android handset released around October: the above LG-built model, with a 5.2-inch screen, and a larger 5.7-inch beast from Chinese manufacturer Huawei.

Autumn is looking like a competitive season for smartphone releases, with Samsung revealing their latest phablet handsets, and Apple expected to lift the lid on their iPhone 6S. We'll keep you up to date on the latest leaks - unless manufacturers realise it's probably best not to leave their new test models lying about.
