The Facebook Car

mercedes.jpg

It goes without saying that Facebook is bloomin’ everywhere, and, more to the point, people use it everywhere. Yes, even when sat on the throne.

However, one activity that has hitherto evaded the social network has been driving. No longer. In one of those crafty synergy-type things companies like to get involved in, Mercedes Benz and Facebook have hooked up to provide drivers with an in-car Facebook app.

Now before you all start screaming the words ‘disaster’, ‘waiting’, ‘to’ and ‘happen’ at your screens, simmer down. This interactive device is not meant to distract drivers from the job in hand – God, forbid – but rather complement intelligent car screens and on-board computers.

What that means of course is anyone’s guess – we reckon lots of annoying posts like Bob Jones is 17 miles away from his destination: Ipswich. By next year, this offering will be standard on cars with on-board computers.

The future is nearly with us, people.
