Musical Fidelity MF100 headphone reivew

Good news: there isn't a DJ on the box of the MF100 headphones. Not a single pop diva or clutch of rusting rock stars.

Either Bieber wasn't available or Musical Fidelity wanted to stay true to their mantra: "Nothing added, nothing taken away." This British hi-fi brand pride themselves on creating pure, uncluttered hardware that doesn't attempt to 'tune' the sounds you pump into year ears.

The MF100 headphones certainly succeed in being subtle, neutral and flat - for both sound and aesthetic. Bass tones are pleasingly rounded and clear, generating satisfyingly warm tones from the 41mm drivers. So clean are the headphones that some tracks can sound washed out, needing you to give the treble a kick up the equalizer.

If you're looking for headphones to turn heads, the MF100 aren't the cans for you. The impossibly squidgy earpieces and main headband are all an unremarkable shade of black, the metal grills the only design flair on offer.

Portable, simple and precise, you'll struggle to find a more honest set of headphones for £120.
