How to watch the Apple Event on 7 September

appleevent2.jpg

Apple is having a party. A 'Special' one.

Expected to reveal the likes of the new iPhone, slimmer MacBooks and a fancy new Apple Watch, all eyes will be turned to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on 7 September, 18:00 (British time).

You won't be able to watch the event from any old computer and internet browser - Apple being Apple, there are some important caveats to note when trying to tune into their event. Here's how to watch:

  • You'll need to head to this link on Apple's home site from 18:00 BST
  • Using an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch? You'll need to use Safari on iOS 7.0 or later
  • Watching via a Mac? You'll need to use Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later
  • PC owners will be able to use Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 to watch the stream, but you won't be able to watch with Chrome, FireFox or Explorer
  • Streaming via Apple TV requires an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) with software 6.2 or later or an Apple TV (4th generation)
  • Trying to watch with an Android device? Sorry chaps, but you'll need to switch to one of the above options as Apple doesn't make Safari for Android

We'll be putting together a live blog of the event right here if you want our semi-serious take on proceedings. As for what to expect from the new iPhone, you can read our thoughts here.
