1992 was not a great year for English football.
Gary Lineker bowed out of international football with defeat against the Swedes, and the press savaged our hapless leader Graham Taylor, who did not like that at all.
Fortunately, 1992 was a far more successful year for footballing style, as Umbro launched their classic Speciali boot that year. And to celebrate the 20th anniversary of that release, Umbro are releasing a limited edition 'lifestyle capsule collection', plus a performance boot.
The collection, limited to 92, comprises 4 pieces: the Anthem Jacket, The Milton (a lifestyle shoe inspired by the Speciali), a soft leather weekend bag, and a leather ball.
In addition, an updated version of the football boot itself, the '92 Speciali Pro, is to be released, limited to 1,992 pairs. The boot features the full, soft leather upper, along with conical studs and a flex groove plate (retained from the original boot) with the addition of blades at the heel for added traction.
Maybe if our back three had had access to these, we might not have lost to Norway in 93...
The Umbro Speciali ’92 limited edition collection will be available from 15th November 2011, from www.umbro.com and other stockists.
