The CATCH-22 New Balance trainers

Moby Dick high tops? The Great Gatsby loafers? How about some woven Frankenstein Roshe runners? Absurd as these literary-themed trainers might sound, New Balance has caused our scepticism to run dry with their very own 'shoe of the book': introducing the Made in USA 1400 'Catch-22'.

Taking inspiration from Joseph Heller's World War II classic as part of NB's American author collection, the 1400 thankfully avoids any obvious B-52 bomber sigils or obtuse references to logical problems (laces without eyelets?).

Instead, the Catch-22s play upon the military themes of Heller's work. An army green mesh peaks out from brown suede overlaps, with threatening red accents included on the logo, heel tab and midsole.

Available from End Clothing for £149, these are something of a must for fans of Heller's work.
