New Balance 'Independence Day' trainer

Fireworks, parades and giant alien spacecraft. None of these have helped inspire J.Crew and New Balance in their quest to build a trainer that celebrates American independence.

Sneaking out ahead of the 4 July merriments, the American labels have revealed their "Independence Day" shoe - patriotic take on the M998 model. A white pigskin suede and mesh upper is flecked with red and blue nods to the star-spangled banner, matched by the super-comfortable ABZORB sole.

Released in a limited batch on 14 June at stores in New York, LA and Hong Kong (go figure), the "Independence Day" models will arrive online and in the London branch of J.Crew on 18 June. Fireworks sold separately.
