Meet the judges for the 2017 ShortList Grooming Awards - in association with House of Fraser
17 March 2017

That’s right – the ShortList Grooming awards are back and, dare we say, bigger and better than ever for 2017.

This year, along with you our esteemed readers, we’ve enlisted a stand out panel of expert judges to put the year’s best new products through their paces. From celebrity hair-stylists to fragrance designers, cosmetic doctors to supermodels, we’ve got all bases covered.

Adrian Clark

Chairing the panel with more than 20 years’ experience in men’s grooming journalism is our very own multi award-winning Style Director, Adrian.

Paul Sculfor

Cited as one of the ‘original supermodels’, Paul Sculfor has worked with everyone from Armani and Paul Smith to Next, and is currently resident head judge on Britain’s Next Top Model. And as if still reigning as on of the world’s top models wasn’t enough, he also counts Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz amongst his exes, so I’d say he’s definitely the man you want to take grooming tips from.

Pietro Boselli

Our favourite, super-swole mechanical engineer PhD lecturer-turned model and all-round fitness guru. And yes – you did read that right. When Pietro’s not shooting for Armani or working with skincare heavyweights LabSeries on their meteorite infused Maxcellence range he can be found on YouTube delivering his killer work-out tutorials so you can look just as ripped as him. Check it out.

Charlie Casely-Hayford

One half of the design duo at fashion week favourite, menswear house Casely-Hayford, Charlie is without doubt one of the coolest guys on London’s style scene. Central St. Martins alum, he was styling artists like The XX before turning his hand to design and joining forces with his dad Joe to build the one of the hottest contemporary British brands around worn by everyone from Mos Def to Robert Downey Jr.. It’s safe to say style is in his DNA.

Dr. Tijion Esho

An industry leader in non-surgical facial rejuvenation, Dr. Tijion Esho is the multi-award winning cosmetic doctor currently shaking up the UK aesthetics scene. With practices in Newcastle and on London’s Harley street, and with a roster of international celebrity clients, Esho – dubbed Dr. Beautiful – is fast becoming the go-to for non-invasive procedures. Want a brow lift, sharper jaw or younger looking hands without stepping near a scalpel? He’s your man. You may also recognise him from his residencies on Channel 4’s Body Shockers and Body Fixers.

Gordon Richardson

As the man at the helm of Topman, Creative Director Gordon is at the very forefront of British style. Working with some of the best creatives and brands in the country and even hitting the catwalk himself from time to time, he knows what’s hot, what’s not, and just what it takes to hit big in the style stakes.

Joe Mills

If you don’t know Joe by name, you’ll certainly know him by his work as a leading men’s hairstylist whose work regularly graces the pages of leading magazines and major advertising campaigns – everyone from Lou Dalton to Farah. With a reputation that precedes him, demand for his superior scissor skills called for the opening of his eponymous second dedicated men’s Soho salon Joe & Co, and when he’s not there, he can be found styling the men’s catwalk shows in Milan and Paris or doing the red carpet rounds with clients Ben Affleck and Martin Freeman.

Michael Douglas

No, not that Michael Douglas. Hailing instead from our very own Lancashire, you might recognise Michael from styling sessions on BBC’s The One Show. Having worked for over a decade as a consultant for some of the biggest names in haircare – Head & Shoulders, Pantene and Wella to name a few – you can be sure he knows a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t.

Lyn Harris

Founder of fragrance house Miller Harris, ever-cool sneaker aficionado Lyn is the only classically trained female nose in the UK and is now hard at work in her Marylebone lab-store Perfumer H, creating bespoke fragrance commissions. She’s a master of perfume and knows exactly what women find irresistible, so I think that pretty much makes her the best person in the country to school you in scent.

Ruth Newman

Building on the expansive portfolio and success of the beauty and grooming department of House of Fraser, Ruth’s merchandising background enables consumers to access the best edit of brands and new products in the grooming market.
