Google. a.k.a SKYNET is working on heads-up glasses (or goggles) that look something like the shades donned by the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series 800 Terminator in the 1984 James Cameron flick.

The specs will provide info from Google Maps, Google Earth and other 'big G' add-ons via an Android operation system. Thus wearers can see the world like Arnie did as The Terminator, minus features like heartbeat monitor and firearm threat assessment.

The website 9to5Google has seen a prototype of the Google goggles, which resemble Oakley’s Thump sunnies (image 3), featuring a built-in audio system.

The specs have a diddy front-facing camera with a flash that can gather information and take snaps. They will also have a navigation system operated by the user tilting their head to scroll and click.

It would operate in just one eye to avoid disorientating wannabe T-800s. It's unclear whether the goggles will ever be produced commercially.

Google specialist Seth Weintraub says, "Perhaps most interesting is that Google is currently deciding on how it wants to release these glasses, even though the product is still a very long way from being finished."

"It is currently a secret with only a few geeky types knowing about it, and Google is apparently unsure if it will have mass-market appeal."
