The Nike Beethoven Trainers

The Nike Beethoven Trainers

The Nike Beethoven Trainers

This was almost certainly the type of veneration that Ludwig van Beethoven was secretly hoping for as he wrote his famous Symphony No. 9 in D minor.

Nike have announced the release of the Kobe 9 Elite Low “Beethoven” - the ninth Kobe Bryant signature shoe, with inspiration taken from Beethoven's ninth symphony, the last that he completed.

We're not entirely sure how Beethoven is present in this trainer, but we're guessing perhaps the black and white colourway corresponds to the black and white keys on a piano. Or maybe Beethoven was really cool, and would have worn these. One of the two. Technologies used include a Flyknit upper, Dynamic Flywire support, a carbon fibre heel counter and Lunarlon cushioning.

They'll be released in Nike Basketball retailers and on nike.com on August 16, priced $200 (£118.50).
