David Beckham’s new Savile Row sportswear collection is all we want for Christmas

Surprise surprise, you're going to want it all

David Beckham’s new Savile Row sportswear collection is all we want for Christmas
05 December 2016

Football, whisky, motorcycling, just generally being good looking. It’s really annoying when something is good at absolutely everything, especially when you find it difficult just to pour the right amount of milk over your Weetabix every morning. Well now you’re about to get a whole lot more envious, because David Beckham has now also nailed a new menswear collection for British heritage brand Kent & Curwen.

Reimagining British sporting and regimental traditions, brand partner David Beckham and creative director Daniel Kearns have created a 21 piece collection for Mr Porter, with key items comprising of a timeless double breasted wool coat, checked shearling jacket, a merino cricket sweater (an item they famously created in the Twenties) and a festive Fair Isle jumper.

Beckham’s style has evolved immensely. From mohawk and diamond earring to poster boy for H&M and Belstaff, Britain’s best loved footballer has become a fashion icon in recent years, so it was about time he dabbled in creating his own threads, and Savile Row sportswear Kent & Curwen, started in 1926, seems like the right fit.

We just hope that he was up until 4AM every night sewing and going on buying trips around the world to source fabric. Not just pointing at finished pieces and saying, “Yeah, that’s nice.”

But David wouldn’t do that to us. He’s a national treasure and an absolute lad. I just wish he’d do something a bit shit for once though, just to bring him back down to earth.
