Can you name the most popular single for every year since 1990?

It’s easy to forget how brilliant chart music once was.

And, of course, by way of balance, it’s easy to forget how terrible it has been.

All of us will reminisce about how great music was in our day, but we’re here to tell you it’s okay to acknowledge there was also some steaming garbage. That goes for every period, not just the one you cherish so much that you won’t hear a bad word said about it.

For example, we can all agree that Return of the Mack was a stone cold banger, but it wasn’t even among the top five best selling songs in the year of its release.

The same goes for Fastlove by George Michael, Firestarter by The Prodigy and Children by Robert Miles, all of which came out in the same year as Morrison’s magnum opus. Normally you’d think that would mean those that sold more copies are solid gold – well, we’ll let you decide on that after taking this quiz.
