America was hoping its athletes would fly at this summer's Olympics, but this probably wasn't what they had in mind.
Ralph Lauren has unveiled the outfits for the US Olympic team, to be worn for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics and they are distinctly reminiscent of air hostess outfits.
David Lauren, Ralph Lauren's Executive Vice President has declared that the company was "very inpired by the 1948 Games, which is the the last time that America competed in England" and that the outfits were an "updated take on old-world elegance", but there is a definite chance that they might be asked about the emergency landing procedure on the flight over to Blighty.
It's not just the athletes that can sport these designs however, as the collection is available to buy from the Ralph Lauren Store. The full men's outfit will cost $824.50, while the women's - with a choice between a dress and separate shirt/skirt combo, will set you back an eye-watering $1316/$1667.
