VIDEO: Man surfs 90ft wave

Ah the joys of being totally fearless.

While we'd love to say that we'd happily try surfing a 90ft wave, realistically our innate fear would have us trembling at a 20ft wave. Let's not even get started on our actual surfing skills...

So, it's with a great deal of respect that we congratulate Garrett McNamara, who has broken the record for largest wave surfed. The previous record was 77ft (easy).

It all happened in Portugal where unusually giant waves occur due to a phenomenon known as Nazaré Canyon, which is an underwater canyon which has a maximum depth of 16,000ft.

You can watch the amazing footage below. Might want to hold your breath first...
