Storms: Hollywood’s way of telling you a character’s about to die, and nature’s way of telling you to lock the doors.
Thunder, lightning and the formation of murky clouds can be as alien and intimidating a spectacle in real life as they can be on the big screen, and if proof were needed, cast your eyes over this incredibly atmospheric time lapse video.
Capturing all manner of severe weather activity over Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska and Colorado, Nicolas Wegner edited the most thrilling film footage to a fearsome degree and layered it with sharp orchestral sounds, adding even more of an edge.
With equipment ranging from a Canon 5dm2 and 6d, tripod, remotes and, hilariously, ‘a few spare pairs of clean underwear’, Wegner says he spent May until September across these landmasses hunting for storms, and, as we can see below, his hard work appears to have paid off.
It certainly beats watching the Weather Channel.
