Superb Hero-Glyphics

Sideways bird, sideways bird, big eye, leaf. We're starting to understand why hieroglyphics didn't catch on as a written language...

But that's not to say that this ancient script can't still have its uses, be it as an overly elaborate code, supreme doodle distraction, or as a medium for delightfully nerdy art.

Hero-Glyphics is the work of artist Josh Lane, a continuing series that blends the Egyptian font with geek gods of TV and film - from the Power Rangers to Star Trek.

Star Wars, Ghostbusters and Firefly are the latest icons to receive Lane's treatment. You can pick up a print of his work here.
