Who doesn't love a good map? They show the sprawling form that a city takes as it grows organically, or is planned in a neat fashion, adapting itself round the local geography of winding rivers, or towering mountains.

This fantastic, and extensive, poster series has been created by Rae Nordico and is based upon the OpenStreetMap project. There are 444 unique, minimal maps of 148 cities on five continents represented in total; all are rendered in striking colour and simple streetways.

We've picked our favourite 15 below: you can see all of them and buy prints for $49.95 (£31.95) each from raenordico.com.
