We were promised jetpacks a long time ago and still science has not delivered to the mass market.

But perhaps personal flying machines are now not too far away after this incredible demonstration by daredevil Nick Macomber on Thursday. He launched from the roof of the Four Seasons Hotel in Denver and, using his Go Fast Jet Pack, enjoyed 30 seconds of graceful flight in the air.

The stunt was in partnership with the Smithsonian Channel, which is airing a documentary on jet packs - given how flawless this flight was, they could be an everyday occurrence in the not-too-distant future. Well, we can at least dream, can't we?

Watch the amazing footage below.
