Making art with money

moneyart.jpg

Many artists have tried (and mostly failed) to make money from their art, but fewer have tried to make art from their money.

That’s precisely what Chad Person has been doing for years though. Cutting up dollar bills and rearranging them in collages, he’s created these imposing images of military hardware, from aircraft carriers to pistols.

Destroying money is an anti-arms declaration for Person, who says on his website: “Imaging the weaponry that I’m not buying with those dollars is a reminder for me that a little creativity can be quite empowering.”

It’s not all political though. Check out the awesome giant squid, also made from money. We’re not sure of the message there, but it’s cool, right?
