More often than not, the best ideas are the simplest. Take this impressive collection of photos for instance. Entitled, simply, Life Through a Marble, it's the work of a preternaturally talented 16-year-old from New Jersey who goes by the Flickr name of Cabe26.

As the title suggests, Life Through a Marble is a stirring and mesmerising set of photos that uses a humble marble as a kind of view finder on the landscape around where he lives. He told us he came up with the idea having seen other photographers do similar work but with much larger crystal balls.

“I realised I could innovate the idea using a much smaller piece of glass and using new techniques, strategies and compostions,” he explained. “I realised I had hit on something when I took the first picture. Before even processing it I realised the idea worked out perfectly. The focus was superb, the composition was right on, and it was eye-catching.”

What’s even more remarkable is that Cabe26 only took up photography in August, before a holiday in Alaska, where some of these pictures were taken.

Now a big hit on Flickr, you are advised to see more of Cabe26’s stunning shots here. Let’s face it, the boy has talent – bags of it.
