Is this the sassiest game show response of all time?

Your moment has arrived.

Play it cool.

After years of fandom-building rituals, of meals-eaten-off-lap-trays and series link recordings, you've finally landed a place on your favourite TV game show, Jeopardy!

Keep. It. Together.

Things are going well. You've got $4,800 in the bank and your confidence is spiking. There's an easy opener that your buzzer finger is all over. Remember to breathe. You've got an Arthur Miller question you knew the answer to back when POGs were still playground phenomena. Nothing can stop your answer train.

BOOM.

Damn. That wasn't as cool as you'd hoped you'd be.

This was the sequence that befell all-round champion Louis Virtel on his appearance on the US show Jeopardy!, immediately becoming something of an internet hero when he unleashed the sassiest celebration in daytime TV history.

Virtel, a writer for pop culture website Hitfix, did explain his one regret with his dream-completing appearance though:

As a kid growing up in the suburbs who venerated everything about Jeopardy!, I would’ve loved seeing an expressive gay contestant own his homosexuality as well as the buzzer. I’ll never get that chance again, but I take some comfort in having exhibited my sexual orientation through a few glaring clues [rather than being able to explain openly he's gay]. It just annoys me to settle for illustration when the correct response to heteronormativity is blatant acknowledgment of my own reality.
