What is it about sixties and seventies space travel?
Playboys, pioneers, purveyors of grandstand speeches - the outer space antics of those who flew in the Apollo missions are still alluring today. And anyone who says they have never wanted to play golf on the moon is a liar.
Well, to bolster their cool, here comes a fascinating new photo series shedding more light on the heady days of Apollo, now available for download on Flickr.
Raiding its archives and blowing the dust off the Polaroid-like snaps from those bygone days, NASA has finally made its photographs available in 1800 dpi high-definition in a bid to boost interest in space exploration.
Categorized by Apollo missions, from spooky shots of earth to astronauts shaving and posing for selfies, the shots are as intimate as they are stunning - just imagine if Instagram was around back then. The likes would have been through the roof.
Houston, we have a problem - there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to give these incredible snaps the time they deserve. Check out the gallery below.
