Space is terrifying. An immense void of nothingness (hence the name) that expands infinitely into yet more nothingness, filled with giant bodies of gas, rock and ice, all travelling around at impossible speeds. We haven't got the first idea what goes on in its depths - which is why we'll be investing in this set of these brilliant planetary infographics by Margot Trudell.

Mapped out on her incredibly cool website OMGSpace.net (what's not to love?), this infographic poster series explores our immediate interstellar neighbours, detailing the fly-bys, rovers and failed missions mankind has made in our attempts to find out more about them.

On her trip through the solar system, Trudell provides facts on each lump of rock mankind has knowledge of - from Mercury to Neptune, through to each of the dwarf planets skimming through space some 10 billion kilometres from our Sun.

Below is a tour of the Sun and our nearest true planets (sorry Pluto). Head to OMGSpace.net to scroll through the full series, or pick up a print from Trudell's Society6 page.
