Frank Lampard scored TWO last gasp goals in the MLS last night

Sam Allardyce might want to give him a call

Frank Lampard scored TWO last gasp goals in the MLS last night
02 September 2016

Lightning doesn't strike twice, they say.

Well try telling that to Frank Lampard, now the second New Yorker since John McClane to find out the hard way that it actually does.

Now playing for New York City FC over in the MLS, the former Chelsea man rolled back the years last night to score not one but TWO last gasp goals, each one putting his side in a winning position against East Coast rivals DC United as they won the game.

Minutes away from full time, Lampard's first came with a trademark late run into the box and finish. While those celebrations were muted thanks to a quick equaliser from DC, ever the attacker, Lampard was then at it again, rampaging forward, receiving the ball on the edge of the box before selling a dummy to leave a player on his backside and almost pass the ball into the bottom far corner of the net.

Lampard's hit a rich vein of form of late. Despite mixed reviews for his loan deal dalliance with Manchester City, cruelly followed by prolonged injury layoffs, the midfielder's recent performances seem to finally be winning fans over.

Although hearts may have been in mouths during his final celebration last night, when he almost went and got himself another injury:

But well done, Frank. We expect Sam Allardyce is about to make a phone call...
