De Niro or DiCaprio?
It’s a thought Martin Scorsese probably has rolling around his noggin every time a script reaches his hand.
Well he needn't have worried for The Audition, an upcoming short film reuniting the director with each of his muses, Bob and Leo, who play themselves battling it out for a part in Marty’s latest film.
As cinematic dream teams go, it's the Hollywood Globetrotters, a line-up to topple any box office, clean up at any awards show. Which makes it all the more galling that it's actually a ‘fake’ movie – or rather an ad, designed to promote a soon-to-open luxury casino in Macau: the Studio City Resort, whose board members have reportedly spent £45m assembling this cast.
You can find the trailer below, while the entire short film will debut when Studio City opens its doubtlessly platinum-soaked doors come mid-2015. And if you’re anything like us, impatiently tapping your fingers at the prospect of another Scorsese/De Niro collaboration for a few years now, we suggest you enjoy it regardless of the fact the men did it for a truckload of cash.
Pretend it’s a casting for a prequel to Casino. Yeah, that’ll do it.
