Amazing 'Lost' Concept Art For The Jurassic Park Cartoon That Never Was

We're still getting over the excitement of Jurassic World, never mind the announcement that the sequel is already on the way.

But just imagine if this had become a reality too. So much dinosaur. And you can never have too much dinosaur.

Artist William Stout was commissioned around the time of the release of Jurassic Park in 1993, during plans to look into all avenues of merchandising and spin-offs, to create some concept art for a Jurassic Park cartoon series.

Stout explains on his blog that, "This was not going to be a kiddy show (although kids of all ages, including myself, could enjoy it). They wanted the show to be a mature prime time series with top writers and state-of-the-art television animation augmented with quite a bit of CG animation. Universal Cartoon Studios wanted a “graphic novel look” to the series. I came in, showed my portfolio and was hired."

A trailer was apparently made, "to communicate the look and feel of the series, also showing how we would combine computer animation with traditional animation," which Spielberg was going to watch and approve, but he never got round to it, after seemingly growing tired of all the merchandise and commercial exploitation of the film.

So, tragically, it was never made. The Lost World if you like. But, luckily for us, Stout is now selling the art on his website, revealing the images he created. Take a look at the gallery and dream of what might have been - a Scooby-Do with dinosaurs? A new Flintstones? It's not too late guys...
