Imaginary friends, philosophy of time travel and tangent universes. These aren't your usual video game fare, but we're beginning to wish they were.

That's because Cinefix's latest 8-bit cinema rendition of Donnie Darko is a thing of intricate beauty.

Playing out like a classic adventure game (think Maniac Mansion, but with sinister twists), this pixelated short recaps the film in marvellous fashion. We're off on an internet search for a full 8-bit version of Mad World. Enjoy.
