Whether or not you like cult director Quentin Tarantino's contribution to Grindhouse, his back catalogue is far classier than any of his characters, with the likes of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and more to his name. If you're worried that the effects of time are sending your DVDs the same way as Vincent Vega, then breathe a sigh of relief, as Kill Bills one and two are out on Blu-ray as of this week.

Now you can watch the Bride (A quietly vicious Uma Thurman) take revenge on the people who murdered her husband in glorious HD, and if her katana doesn't pop your eye balls out, the high-def visuals surely will. Spread over two films, Tarantino's homage to just about everything from Honk Kong chopsocky to Spaghetti Westerns is brilliantly brutal, mixing decapitations with deadpan dialogue, as so many of the best films do.

Half of a Tarantino flick's appeal is the soundtrack of course, and as well as audio clarity a bat would approve of, the Blu-ray extras don't disappoint, with performances from bands Chingon and The 5,6,7,8s tucked away amongst all the face-bleeding visuals and content. If you thought Death Proof was a car crash of a film, get down to the shops today and see for yourself why Tarantino is still important, and have a peek of this gory clip from Kill Bill right here at ShortList.com.
