The Incredible Nutella Lasagne

The Incredible Nutella Lasagne

The Incredible Nutella Lasagne
05 December 2014

Tired of the turkey and trimmings? Fed up of figgy pudding? If you're looking to change up your Christmas dinner, you'd do well to consider trying your hand at this festive monster: the Nutellasagna.

A dessert dish that can be served either warm or cold, the Nutella lasagne is the creation of Allison and Matt Robicelli, owners of Robicelli's Bakery of Brooklyn, New York. Crammed within its layers of buttery lasagne noodles is a significant quanity of cannoli custard, "copious amounts" of Nutella, topped off with some crushed roasted hazelnuts and chopped chocolate for texture, and some marshmallows to top it all off.

Created as part of a cooking project the Robicelli's describe as "Jump the Shark", the Nutellasagna was dreamt up in an attempt to out-hype the hype-driven food PR of New York. First released in a short period during the summer, the heart-stopping creation sold like hot cakes (or the lasagne dessert equivalent), hence its return for Christmas.

Available to New Yorkers in a 10-15 person half-tray for £42 ($65) or a 15-24 person full tray for £72 ($120), we're pretty sure you'll be getting diabetes for Christmas if you attempt eating one of these.
