The $100 cheese sandwich

The $100 cheese sandwich

The $100 cheese sandwich

How much would you pay for a great sandwich? We're going to stop you there because we know right off the bat that you probably won't go past a tenner.

It's therefore impossible that you'll reach the dizzy heights of $100 (£60). But for those with more money and food fandom than sense, there's a new cheese sandwich to empty your wallet.

Over at Deca Restaurant + Bar, located in the Ritz Carlton Chicago, they have made the Zillion Dollar Grilled Cheese sandwich, which at the sum of one hundred bucks will hopefully sort your appetite out for the day, or week.

But why so pricey? Well here are the ingredients: black Iberico ham from pigs who have roamed "free in the pasture, eating acorns" because obviously, artisan sourdough bread, 40-year aged cheddar infused with 24k gold flakes, 100-year-old aged balsamic vinegar, white truffle aioli, foie gras, heirloom tomatoes and a duck egg. Oh and it comes with a portion of lobster mac 'n' cheese.

Okay so maybe we could stretch for it.
