In a Home Alone-eqsue display of festive criminal blundering, a man has been collared by the law after trying to steal Christmas trees.
West Yorkshire police called off the need for Christmas overtime after the culprit was caught when officers followed a half-mile trail of shed pine needles right to the criminal mastermind’s front door.
Said a spokesman: “The foliage led officers to a house where the stolen trees were found and recovered. As an extra present, officers also found a cannabis farm at the address.”
To add an additional irony, the trees had been marketed as being ‘non-drop’.
