Political debate degenerating into fisticuffs is a bafflingly common affair. But rarely do members of parliament result to brandishing revolvers on live TV.

Take a bow the country of Jordan, where exactly that has happened.

On a political debate show on Friday, Jordanian MP Mohammed Shawabka threw his shoe at his political opponent, Mansour Sayf al-Din Murad, before pulling out his pistol and pointing it at the activist. The presenter attempted to separate the two, and the programme was taken off the air as the fight continued.

Apparently Sayf al-Din Murad had accused Shawabka of working for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. Didn't go down well...
