The mummified remains of an ancient Egyptian cat preserved for more than 2,000 years have been found gathering dust in an attic.

B&B owner Robert Gray inherited the bandaged artefact when his father died in 1984 but assumed it was stuffed with rags. Three decades on he finally decided to investigate the arcane package and took it along to a vet. To his amazement a series of x-rays revealed the outline of a perfectly preserved puss - complete with its face, ears, spine and brain.
