cocktail.jpg

While we might watch in awe at a cocktail waiter doing his thing behind a bar, we're not that great at making legible notes. Our mouths are usually too busy watering, for one.

So we opted for a more realistic solution. Why not ask an actual expert? We spoke to JJ Goodman, of the London Cocktail Club, who gave us five quick and easy to remember tips for making the perfect cocktail.

1. Sour

Great quality lemons do the job, soften them by rolling them before you press

2. Sweet

Try honeys and maple as great alternatives to caster sugar

3. Ice

You’ll need a lot, make sure you have plenty in the freezer

4. Glassware

Invest in some sexy glassware, you don’t need much to look great

5. Spirits

Booze adds more than alcohol, for a dry finish which subtle flavour that adds to the finish, make sure you buy quality
